Improv Art class – March 11, 2017

Good morning Ladies,
I soooo  apologize for the late email – been busy with customer quilts.  Here is the info for the March class.

Saturday March 11, 2017 – 10:00AM – approx 1:00PM  Caldwell United Methodist Church – Main Street, Caldwell Ohio –
in the fellowship hall – back entrance – easy access to parking and entry.  Cost of class is $15.00
Project is “A Tree by any other name………………improv3114
We will be learning 3 dimensional applique.  See photos attached of my examples. You do not have to make yours exactly
like mine – remember be creative!
Background for tree – fabric that is going to compliment your tree – I would suggest a marble, fossil, batik or something
that does not have a very busy print on it so it does not detract from the focal point of the tree and leaves – you will need
a 14”wide x 18”high piece of fabric.
Tree – you can make your tree stick form (like the sample with tan background in the photos) which will give you a more
primitive or modern look.  Or, you can draw a free form curvy texture like a real tree.  Color is up to you – I chose brown for my
primitive one and a dark batik for my curvy one.  Whether you choose to make a whole tree or half tree (see photos) you will need
a 12” wide x 18”high piece of fabric.
Leaves – the leaves will be double sided fused together with paper backed fusible web.  You could choose a multi print fabric for
all the leaves and you will still get a variety when they are cut out.  You can use different color scraps of fabric; you could use
organza or velvet ribbon also.  You will need a total of 10”x 18”piece of fabric for your leaves
Fusible web – I use the Pellon 805 paperbacked.  You can use whatever you are comfortable with. You will need approximately
1 yard.  If you do not have any – I will have some available for $2.50 per yard.

Also bring:  a good sharp pencil or pen; good sharp cutting scissors; cutting mat and rotary cutter; iron and pressing mat ( I will
have two ironing pads – but I am down to one iron so if anyone has an extra to bring.)  For the two ironing pads I will furnish
the pressing sheets to protect the irons and pads; extension cords for your irons.  **You do not have to bring your sewing machines**
– two more items to bring – a ruler for rotary cutting and pins to pin your leaves on so they will stay in place until you sew them.
I will supply the templates for your leaves.
Please RSVP if you are coming so I can know what supplies to bring.
Look forward to seeing you!
Blessings,

I Changed My Background Theme

Although I hadn’t plan to change my website theme, I got word from one of my customer’s today that someone had hacked our website and added a link that included some explicit words, and it was right at the near top of our menu page.  I asked my husband John to fix it.  He found that our website had not been hacked, but apparently the old Word Press photo had given permissions to some hacker to add their website link to my website home page.  In order to fix the problem, John had to change my website theme and header photo.  My personal apology to anyone who visited our website and saw the former link that was not appropriate.  I did not post it.

As always, I appreciate your feedback.

Best Regards,

Pam

Large Custom Quilt Display Rack – Break Down For Sale

0808141504This is a custom made hinged quilt rack. It is designed to quickly set up or take down at quilt shows or in your home or showroom. The A-Frame shape is hinged at the center of the two main vertical support sections. The two main sections are hinge at the top, so it can be folded into a easy to move or load collapsed position to load into a van, pickup or mini van. We designed this rack to be as wide possible, yet still fit into a Dodge mini van. When folded, the sizes are as follows, 75″ high, 48″ wide, 6″ thick. When unfolded, or opened as in the picture, the height is about 73″ depending on how far opened you set the four legs. This one is make of vintage yellow pine flooring board from a house about 100 years old, with brass plated steel hardware. The foot of each leg has a rubber foot to help prevent any slipping of the legs on polished floors. Each one of the horizontal cross support can also be removed, since each is held in place with a 1/4-20 decorative brass machine screw that screws into a metal insert in the cross support. This design is very sturdy…..We estimate that it can support over 125 pounds of quilts or fabric provided that the weight is evenly dispersed on front and back horizontals. We sometimes set up at outdoor art and craft shows, where we needed a more stable display stand to show our quilts without fear of the unit falling over in brisk wind. This design is the solution, it is very stable in wind provided the feet are all firmly set on a on a floor or ground surface. If you need to set up on a hill for example, you could open the legs further than in the picture if need be. The rack weighs about 25 pounds fully assembled. If you are interested in ordering this quilt display rack or a custom display, please email us. Custom pricing ranges from $275 for smaller unfinished yellow pine construction to $800 for larger finished walnut, cherry, or maple hardwood construction. Shipping is possible, but will be shipped in a disassembled method, you would need to put it together. (Assembly takes about 1/2 hour.) We prefer that you pick this item up in Caldwell Ohio 43724.
